Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:31
This year, like years past, we need to be prepared that Satan is going to use fear and doubt against believers. He knows if he can get us to question God, then maybe we’ll give up and abandon His will for our life’s. Feelings of fear often precede feelings of doubt and if left unattended, these emotions can cause us to stop trusting God to provide for us.
As believers we need to defuse doubt as soon as possible, and we do that by determining its origin. Is this a legitimate doubt? Many times we struggle with feelings that have no validity when we think about it.
Reading God’s Word is another great way to combat fear & doubt. Many read the Book of Psalms because it highlights David’s personal battles over emotions such as fear, doubt and discouragement through very difficult circumstance, and still God never failed to provide.
Prayer is also essential to fight fears. I like to think of prayer as faith in action. We pray because we know God is wise and holds the solution to what we face.
Always be honest with God in your prayers, He knows it all anyway. Honesty breaks the pattern of doubt. And the last thing Satan wants us to do is go to God in prayer. He knows that God loves us with an eternal love and that if we go to Him for help, He will give us everything we need. Amen!
